Stark County Sheriff’s Office to Host Shop with the Sheriff

Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier is announcing the second annual Shop with the Sheriff event, designed to give back to children within the community in need of a helping hand.

“No child should go without, especially around the holidays,” explained Sheriff Maier. “Here at the Sheriff’s Office, we not only have a mission to protect but a mission to serve. Giving back to the community is a welcomed part of our job.”

In cooperation with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office Wives’ Committee and the Stark County Deputies Association, on Saturday, December 16th Sheriff Maier and other members of the office staff will welcome 37 local children to participate in this year’s event.

The children, facing economic hardship, were identified through the Salvation Army. Each child will have the opportunity to shop with a member of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office staff to purchase needed items as well as special gifts.

Saturday’s event will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 16th with breakfast in the front training room at the Sheriff’s Office. There, the children will also have an opportunity to meet Santa and have their picture taken.

At 9:00 a.m. everyone will caravan to the Walmart Store at 3200 Atlantic Boulevard, where the children will embark on their shopping adventure.

Officials note the event is made possible through the support of the Walmart Store on Atlantic Boulevard, the Louisville McDonald’s, the Stark County Deputies Association, and the Stark County Wives’ Committee.
