Tuscarawas County releases revised county fair schedule

(Dover, Ohio) – The Tuscarawas County Fair will be hosted for Junior Fair projects only this season.

The plan was approved by the Tuscarawas County Agricultural Society this week. The TCAS worked in collaboration with OSU Extension professionals to recreate the revised plan, according to officials. In order to keep attendance low, most non-market animals will be released immediately following the shows. The Horse Shows will take place prior to the week of the fair on September 12th & 13th.

“The current schedule was developed adhering to current state and local health guidelines related to fair activities as well as taking into consideration other models for junior fairs around the state that provide youth with the opportunity to show and sell their animals in an environment that is as safe as possible,” explained Chris Kendle, Tuscarawas County Extension Educator.

Officials noted the schedule is subject to change if current health guidelines change significantly. The TCAS board also voted to have free entry to the fair for anyone attending the show. Food vendors will be limited to Tuscarawas County commodity entities: Dairymen’s Dairy Bar, Cattlemen’s Beef Trailer, Pork Producers, nd Clover Cafe operated by Tuscarawas County 4-H Committee.

In order to offset the cost of presenting the  Junior Fair shows, the fair board is offering show sponsorships for local businesses and organizations. Plans are also in the works to create a Virtual On-Line Tuscarawas County Fair. For details on both programs, contact Jonna Cronebaugh at 330-243-6373.
