(Stark County, Ohio) – People living in mental health and/or addiction recovery (as well as their families, friends, and support systems) will be celebrated during Stark County Recovery Week, September 12-18.

While some in-person events will be on hold for this year – with others being held “quarantine” style – the special week is still being observed to mark the significance of the recovery journey.

 

Anyone in Stark County with a Facebook account can show their virtual support for this year’s Recovery Week by utilizing the “Recovery is Possible” Facebook Frame, available now. (Go to facebook.com/profilepicframes and search “Recovery is Possible.” Scroll to the purple frame that says “By Stark County Mental Health & Addiction Recovery.”)

CommQuest’s Annual Recovery Picnic: September 12

Stark County’s Annual Recovery Picnic, which typically draws hundreds, will look a little different this year. For the first time guests will need tickets to secure a meal and swag bag, but tickets are free. For free tickets, visit CommQuest.org and click the “Get Tickets Now” button. Then, on Saturday, September 12, those with tickets (bring the tickets with you) are invited to the Massillon Recovery Campus (1680 Nave Road SE, Massillon) anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. This is where guests will drive through to receive free boxed lunches and swag bags filled with lots of goodies and community information.

 

Ice Down Your COVID Stressors, hosted by Coleman Professional Services: September 16

On Wednesday, September 16 from 12-2 p.m., the community is invited to celebrate recovery and engage in a stress reliever at the main entrance courtyard area of Coleman’s 400 Tuscarawas St. W., Canton location. There will be a Kona Ice Truck and mindfulness activities – physical distancing is required, and hand sanitizer will be available.

 

NAMI Stark County is partnering with CommQuest on the picnic this year, and Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health will have interactive “Trees of Positivity” at their Shipley, Belden, Alliance and Plain office building waiting rooms for clients and families.
