Are you looking for ways to shrink your carbon foot print and grow your environmental awareness? Trying living a more sustainable lifestyle!
Planet Protectors is brought to you in partnership with the Stark Tuscarawas Wayne Recycling District
We are facing many global problems right now: climate change, air pollution, world hunger, water scarcity. And unfortunately, many of us do not live sustainably. We consume too many resources, putting pressure on the environment to provide more than it can produce, as we continue to pollute the air, water, and soil on which we rely.
Sustainability means environmentally friendly AND socially acceptable. Sustainable living means keeping your carbon footprint small and acting in a socially responsible manner. We must encourage people to minimize their use of Earth’s resources and reduce damages to humanity and their environment.
Here are a few ways to live more sustainably:
- Eat less meat.
- Take public transportation, walk more places, and fly less.
- Buy seasonal and local food.
- Pass on plastic: say NO to plastic bottles, bags, straws, etc.
- Avoid microplastics in your bathroom and clothing.
- Turn off and unplug appliances when you’re not using them.
- Rent your text books, clothes, etc. when you can.
- Buy secondhand.
- Take shorter showers and turn off the water when you brush your teeth.
- Recycle when possible and consider composting!
The Recycling District assures safe and sanitary disposal of solid waste for the residents of Stark, Tuscarawas, and Wayne Counties. Their goal is to reduce reusable or renewable wastes from entering landfills within the district. The Solid Waste District accomplish this through the development of residential and industrial programs that educate, promote, provide, implement, and improve recycling opportunities that will preserve landfill space now and into the future.
