5 Benefits to Midnight Kayaking

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District offers multiple opportunities for a moonlight paddle! But what are the benefits of evening kayaking?

Enjoying the Outdoors is brought to you in partnership with Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District

When you’re relaxing at the lake on a hot day, you’re bound to see a few adventurous souls out in kayaks! Did you know that some kayakers also enjoy paddling on the water after hours?

Why Night Kayaking?

There are several benefits to kayaking at night!

  1. No sunscreen needed! At night, you don’t need to worry about burning under the hot rays of the sun.
  2. Helps burn off stress and energy from the day. Get a better night’s sleep after burning off some of the day’s residual energy.
  3. Less crowded on the water. You don’t have to worry about skier or pontoon parties. The water will likely be calmer.
  4. Unique nightlife. Different animals come around at night and you might see some nocturnal friends!
  5. Good for the soul. The peacefulness of a nighttime kayak adventure is tough to beat. The quiet atmosphere and calming water are not something you can experience during the day.
