5 Safe Ways to Be Happier & Healthier in 2022!

You can’t change much about the pandemic, but you can change your mindset, goals, and daily habits this year!

This is Public Health is brought to you in partnership with the Tuscarawas County Health Department.

We’ve been living in a strange world these past two years. Many of us spent 2021 in survival mode. But with the future still a little uncertain, now is as good a time as any to work on creating a healthier and happier YOU!

COVID-19 is still closing some businesses and altering others, but you can still find ways to set and meet your goals.

2022 Goals

  1. Move your body! You might not be comfortable joining a gym yet, but there are many free and low-cost workout options online. Phone apps and YouTube have tons of exercise content. And if you are ready to open a membership, many local gyms are committed to creating a clean and safe environment.
  2. Ready to finally quit smoking? The Tuscarawas County Health Department has many resources available for those looking to kick the smoking or vaping habit. Check out their information on Tobacco Use Prevention: https://www.tchdnow.org/tobacco-use-prevention.html.
  3. Your mental health matters. The internet doesn’t require proof of vaccinations or a mask. You can download calming apps on your phone, listen to podcasts through streaming services, or book an online appointment with licensed therapists- without leaving your couch!
  4. Speaking of immunizations… Have you received your COVID-19 vaccine, or is it on your to-do list this year? Maybe you’re finally eligible for the booster. While we’re on the subject, are you up to date on all your recommended vaccines? The TCHD has many vaccines available at their location! Check it out here: https://www.tchdnow.org/immunizations.html.
  5. Yes, you can follow a budget! Now is a GREAT time to start a budget or financial plan. With downloads and apps available for every income level, there’s no excuse not to spend your money wisely. And file your taxes early! The early bird gets the faster refund!
