The Tuscarawas County Fair opens today, September 15! Here’s your guide to making the most of your visit to the fair this year..
At the Tuscarawas County Fair, there’s really something for everyone. The animal lovers, the foodies, the gamers, the quilters and of course.. the kids! Family outings always go much more smoothly when you have a plan. If the kids are expecting rides, you don’t want to plan your visit before the rides open and if your baby loves cows, you have to make sure you know when the Market Beef show is!
Be In The Know.. Be sure to check out the fair schedules so you’re aware of what’s going on and when. Here are some resources with schedules and more information on some of the fairs’ most popular attractions..
Choose a plan of attack.. Take a look at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds map to help decide which entrance fits your plans best. Know where to find the barns for your animal lovers as well as important stations such as the Sheriff’s, Firstaid and bathrooms.

Visiting on a budget.. There are so many opportunities to save money on your visit. Visit the links for more information.
- Recycling day gives you the opportunity to trade your aluminum cans in for FREE entry to the far.
- There are various discounted days to note, Family day is Tuesday Sept. 17th. $3 admission as well as $2 off of ride wristbands.
- If your family is planning on attending the fair for multiple days, save money with fair passes.. Information found on the Tuscarawas County Fair’s website
- Take advantage of free parking off of Oxford Street!

My Plan of Attack.. As a family with two toddlers, we take full advantage of the free parking on Oxford street and enter at the main entrance. We take the loop through all of the 4-H barns, making sure to stop and visit Old MCdonald’s Farm. Once we’ve seen all of the fuzzy and feathered friends, we grab dinner before checking out all of the miscellaneous 4-H projects. Our area has some seriously talented youth and I love seeing everything they’ve worked so hard on. After our food has settled it’s time for the kids to check out the rides. By the time they’ve ridden their favorite rides and the ponies, the kids are good and tuckered out. We grab a funnel cake for mom and dad to share as the kids pass out on the way home and that’s what we call a successful fair trip with little kids!
No matter how your family plans to visit or what your “plan of attack” is, you are sure to have fun at the Tuscarawas County Fair.
