If you’re tired of your home looking gloomy and dim on the outside, consider a pressure washer as a quick and most often, inexpensive fid.

If you don’t have one personally, most hardware stores have them available to rent or buy. And with a pressure washer, there’s no need to crawl on the roof to clean. You can simply clean grime off your siding, garage door, your porch, even your driveway. Just be sure all your windows are closed!

Here are three tips when preparing to give your home a quick facelift!

  1. Be sure to choose the correct tool – You want to look at water flow in gallons per minute when choosing the best pressure washer. For example, a 5 GPM machine with 3,700 PSI (gallons per minute) will clean much better than a 4 GPM machine at 4,000 PSI.
  2. Keep safety in mind – Although it’s just water, pressure washers present significant danger if operated incorrectly. The high-pressure water blast can damage property and cause serious injury. Professionals recommend wearing gloves, boots, and long-sleeved shirts. Also, be sure to pay close attention to the direction of the nozzle before you turn it on each time.
  3. Don’t overdo it – Not every job requires the highest pressure setting. Professionals advise selecting a low setting when cleaning a house or deck.
