Free Bus Ride to Cooling Station June 15th & 16th-Stark County -Keep cool this week as temperatures will feel like 100!

Reminder- do not leave pets or children in a car! Drink plenty of water, try to wear a hat, sun glasses and sunscreen if you are outside!

STARK COUNTY

Due to the extremely hot weather forecast for Canton on Wednesday and Thursday, the City of Canton will be offering a cooling center for those in need. SARTA will offer transportation.

The shelter at Garaux Park, located at 3801 – 13th St SW, Canton, OH 44710, will be open:

• Wednesday, June 15 from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

• Thursday, June 16 from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

SARTA will provide transportation:

• Those who need transportation to the Garaux Shelter may access SARTA from any regular stop to the Cornerstone Transit Center on Cherry Ave. SE. Once at the Cornerstone Transit center, utilize route #113 or #106 for transportation to the Garaux Shelter. Please let the bus driver know you are in route to the cooling center and there will be no fee.

• Return transportation will be provided from the Garaux Shelter to Cornerstone Transit Center on Cherry Ave. SE- FREE of charge by utilizing route #113 or #106.

Due to the extreme heat today and tomorrow, your local YMCA is available for anyone in the community as a respite. Each Y will have designated space for those needing to cool off or charge their electronics.

Please be safe, remember to hydrate, check in on loved ones, and never leave a child or pet in the car unattended, even for a moment.
