Historic Schoenbrunn Village Comes Alive For The Annual Lantern Tour

Tour Historic Schoenbrunn Village lit with candlelight for the anticipated event: Autumn Lantern Tour Friday, September 16th & Saturday 17th.

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio – September 16th and 17th, 2022– The celebration of the 250th Anniversary of Historic Schoenbrunn Village continue with its popular fall lantern Tours. All are invited to visit Historic Schoenbrunn Village alit by candlelight at the upcoming Autumn Lantern Tour. The Village will open for the tour Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30PM and remain open until 9:30PM. Guests will encounter costumed 18th-century storytellers as they tour the Village’s eighteen reconstructed cabins. 

Visitors are welcome to carry a lantern to light their way as they travel through the village along the fall foliage and luminary-lined paths.  Explore each cabin as you walk the candlelit path and immerse yourself in the traditional activities.  Costumed volunteers will be demonstrating candle making, woodworking, sewing, corn grinding, butter churning, and more.  Refreshments of warm apple cider and gingerbread will be given in the Schoolhouse for all guests. 

Admission for the tour is $8 per person and children 6 years old and younger are free to attend. Historic Schoenbrunn Village members may attend free of charge. Memberships to the Village may be purchased at the Autumn Lantern Tour and last for one year.

About Historic Schoenbrunn Village

Historic Schoenbrunn Village was founded in 1772 as a Moravian mission among the Delaware Indians. With founder and missionary David Zeisberger, Ohio’s first settlement reached one hundred cabins and three hundred inhabitants. Today, seventeen reconstructed cabins are available to tour. Historic Schoenbrunn Village’s last day of its 2021 regular tour season is October 31st . Historic Schoenbrunn Village is operated by the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and owned by the Ohio History Connection. The Village is located in New Philadelphia at 1984 East High Avenue off of U.S. 250.
