Fun Will Be Had, Rain or Shine!

We can’t wait to see the people we serve because it has been a while since we had any sort of semi in-person event since COVID changed the landscape of how we have to approach events,” says Community Relations/Special Projects Director, Kerri Silverthorn.

This Drive-Thru event is the perfect way to have fun with the family without compromising anyone’s health. TuscBDD is so appreciative to have this opportunity to bring awareness, visibility, and inclusion to people with developmental disabilities as well as celebrate a culture of diversity and equity.

TuscBDD’s Commitment to Inclusion of Friends and Neighbors with Disabilities

Kerri speaks to us more about the goal of TuscBDD and how this event embodies their mission:

When it comes to inclusion, people often face barriers from getting transportation to just simply feeling included in a space or event. Data from a recent TuscBDD survey highlighted that many people with disabilities in our community do feel included and have opportunities. While that is great news, we know that there is always room to improve. Survey data shows that continuous awareness communication is recognized as a strength of ours here at TuscBDD, and we know that this continuous awareness communication is one factor in helping to enable members of our community to understand, accept, and value their friends and neighbors with disabilities. We want people with disabilities to feel empowered to join in all aspects of community life whether it is where they work or where they hang out, so it is important that we share stories about how that is achieved by people we serve. We will share some handouts about some of the talented artists, excelling students, and passionate workers in our community that happen to have a disability.”

Everyone at TuscBDD hopes that people with and without disabilities stop by to show support by having a little bit of safe fun! Let’s pack the parking lot!
