Kids COVID-19 Vaccine Likely Rolling out 1-2 weeks depending on the CDC and FDA approval- Moms in Stark, Ashland & Tusc need to be prepped!
There’s a see-saw of pro-vaccine and anti-vaccine but here are some helpful facts from the professionals.

From the CDC website- in large bold letters at the top as of 1:30 on October 28th, 2021 it states, “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet authorized a COVID-19 vaccine for children age 5 to 11, and CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has not yet made a recommendation on vaccinating this age group. CDC will update this web page when new information is available.”
FDA Presentation
The FDA presented information from Pfizer testing on October 26, 2021- found here- regarding 5-11-year-old vaccine testing. Check out the highlights:
- Doses consisted of 0.2 mL of Pfiizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to children 5-11. (children 12 and older received 0.3mL)
- Doses were given 3 weeks apart.
- Cohort 1 testing gave Pfizer and placebo vaccines to 2,268 children and tracked them from June 7-September 6th 2021.
- Cohort 2 did the same with 2,369 children from August 26- October 8th, 2021.
- Testing was done in the United States, Poland, Spain, and Finland.
- Vaccine Efficacy in Participants Without Evidence of Infection Prior to 7 Days After Dose 2 was 90.7%.

What were the side effects!?
- About 4% reported a fever of 100.4 or higher for Dose 1 and 11%Â for Dose 2
- About 33% reported fatigue for Dose 1 and 39% for Dose2
- About 22% reported headaches for Dose 1 and 28% for Dose 2
- About 9% reported new or worsened muscle pain for Dose 1 and 12% reported it for Dose 2
- About 6% reported diarrhea for Dose 1 and about 5% for Dose 2
- About 4.5% reported chills for Dose 1 and about 10% for Dose 2
- About 3% reported new or worsened joint pain for Dose 1 and about 5% for Dose 2
- About 2% reported vomiting for Dose 1 and about 2% for Dose 2
- No death, anaphylaxis, nor myocarditis/pericarditis (inflammation of the heart) cases were reported due to the vaccine.

- As of October 28, 2021, for kids ages 5-10, the state of Ohio currently has 56,904 cases reported of COVID-19 in children.
- That makes up 4% of total cases in Ohio.
- There are 407 children hospitalized.
- It’s reported that 3 children aged 5-10 have died due to COVID-19.
