Tuscarawas County, OH- HARCATUS Tri-County C.A.O., Inc. is searching for nominees that are passionate about making a difference to help the low-income community as a Low-Income Representative on the HARCATUS Board of Directors. Candidates should match their mission: “to improve the quality of life for individuals and families by minimizing the effects of poverty, promoting self-sufficiency and advocating for positive change.” They need elected reps in the seats for Harrison, Carroll, and Tuscarawas counties.
The Board Members are vital to ensuring the impoverished communities are being taken care of. In this role, you will be in a position to make a difference for poverty-stricken families.

Responsibilities of Board Members
- Be a voice for the low-income community
- Participate in strategic planning and assessments to ensure needs of the low-income community are being met through HARCATUS programs
- Fiduciary oversight
- Review and approve a large number of federal and state grants (for example, Head Start, HEAP, Weatherization, etc.)
- Ensure the agency is in compliance with the organizational standards as well as state and federal funding requirements
- Approve job descriptions and the wage scale for the agency
- Establish and maintain bylaws
- Review and approve policies
- Elected low-income representatives serve a term of two years (current election for June 2022 – June 2024)
- Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings
- Serve on appointed committees

To start the process:
- Read and meet the Eligibility Requirements for the role
- Submit a Nomination Form before Feb 15th
- Review the timeline below for the selection process

How Does This Role Impact the Community?
This role is extremely important to ensure families are getting the help they need. The person in this role doesn’t necessarily have to be impoverished themselves, but definitely has to have the experience dealing with low-income families in need. If you’re in a dire situation, then you understand as should try for the role!
