N. Canton Public Library Partners with Cleveland Play House

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Cleveland Play House has partnered with the North Canton Public Library to bring the world premiere of a children’s play to the Stark County area on the afternoon of Saturday, September 3.

Teddy Bear Mountain centers around siblings Marcus and Maya who are navigating the loss of a loved one. With the help of their Nana, neighbors, and a mysterious woman, the children learn how remembering can help them heal.

Written by Lisa Langford and directed by LeeAnet Noble, Teddy Bear Mountain is intended to help children process grief and loss in a healthy and honest way.  “With so many lives lost during the pandemic, children are grieving,” Dr.  Yining Lin, Manager of Partnerships for the Cleveland Play House said.  “This play provides a gentle and age-appropriate way to open a  conversation of healing.”

“We’re honored to help bring the story of Teddy Bear Mountain to our community and serve as a safe space where children can process difficult emotions,” North Canton Public Library Director Andrea Legg said.

The play is intended for families and children aged five and older. It will run for 55 minutes in the Library’s lower-level Community Room.

Resources to help children navigate grief and loss will be available at the conclusion of each showing.

Teddy Bear Mountain’s first performance will be shown on Saturday, September 3 at 12:30 pm. The second performance will be shown at 2:00 pm.
