New Fitness Loop Opening Feb. 2nd

Fitness Loop Ribbon Cutting and Strong Seniors Class to take place on Feb. 2 at New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia.

New Towne Mall will harness its pedestrian-friendly pathways by offering guests a new way to break a sweat through Fitness Loop, sponsored by Route 250 Health & Performance. Reinventing the traditional mall walker experience, Fitness Loop provides a way for guests to enjoy the benefits of physical activity while incorporating interactive aspects, including mile markers and specified pathways.

“Taking part in regular physical activity, including brisk walking, can bring about such great health benefits,” said Tori Noah, General Manager at New Towne Mall. “We’re thrilled to partner with Route 250 Health & Performance to offer New Towne Mall as a pedestrian-friendly area for guests and to get their steps in while enjoying some new twists on a traditional fitness activity.”

Fitness Loop will be available Monday – Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The walking path begins at the main entrance and features a designated walking path with various challenges along the way, identified through markers on the floor.

Route 250 Health & Performance is dedicated to promoting a healthy community and is excited to bring this program to Tuscarawas County.

“The mall already has a number of dedicated mall walkers who get their exercise in by walking the marked path through the mall,” stated Brian Preston, owner of Route 250 Health & Performance. “Our hope is that we can add some excitement and also help people take their fitness up a notch with the various challenges along the walking path. We also hope to attract some new faces into the mall, especially in these cold winter months when outdoor walking is a challenge for some,” stated Preston.

To mark the launch of Fitness Loop on Feb. 2, New Towne Mall and Route 250 Health & Performance will host a ribbon-cutting followed by a Strong Seniors class led by a Route 250 Health & Performance personal trainer. This Strong Seniors class will take place inside the mall at entrance C near Marshalls and is open to the public as part of the launch of Fitness Loop and will begin at 10 a.m. following the ribbon cutting.

The Strong Seniors class is offered at the Route 250 facility on a weekly basis. The Strong Seniors class is a fitness program for seniors that provides an environment where you can have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. This unique program, which qualifies for Medicare coverage, offers hand-held weights, small fitness balls and much more for low-intensity resistance training. Both seated and standing support routines are available to accommodate all interests and levels of abilities. Seniors are invited to give this class a try for free at The Fitness Loop ribbon-cutting event on Feb. 2.
