(Ohio) – Knowing that one in four North American bee species face extinction and that one in three bites of food is thanks to a pollinator, The Buzz Maker launched the Save Ohio Bees initiative with Ohio artists.
The Mission
Its mission is to raise awareness and funds to protect bees and pollinator habitats while supporting local artists and encouraging grassroots climate action.
“We believe in the power of small business to address big challenges,” said Tracy Teuscher, APR, president of The Buzz Maker. “Through this initiative, we seek to leverage the power of community, collaboration, and creativity to effect positive and lasting change.”
The Campaign
This year’s campaign launches May 20, World Bee Day, to benefit The Wilderness Center (TWC) of Ohio and The Pollinator Partnership. Artists will donate a portion of net proceeds with a matching gift from The Buzz Maker through June 30.
“We are very grateful for these local artists and advocates who are helping to bring more attention to the plight of our pollinators,” said Carrie Elvey, Community Engagement Coordinator and Senior Naturalist at The Wilderness Center. “Pollinators are a vital link in the web that creates healthy natural areas, and their decline over the past decade is a wake-up call to all of us.”
Pollinator projects and special events are part of this year’s lineup including a free virtual Bee Bootcamp with The Wilderness Center scheduled for June 8 at 7:00 p.m. Visit the Save Ohio Bees marketplace to shop local and find bee and plant guides, video resources, garden projects, local nurseries, the latest research and more.
