Senior Fair Board Features

Fair season is right around the corner! Get to know a bit about the ones who make the magic happen- The Tuscarawas County Agricultural society. A.K.A “The Fair Board”

Tuscarawas County Fair has played a notable role in the lives of its board members.  Many have a great love and dedication to agriculture and 4-H. Some are only the most recent of many in their family to hold a place on the fair board. They’ve even met life partners and spent years dedicated to raising families involved in our county fair..

Legacies

Director Kip Hursey is a current board member who has been preceded by his brother, father and grandfather. Growing up among generations of board members gave him an understanding of the juggling & great responsibility that comes with being a director of the Tusc. County fair: especially during fair week! Similarly to many other members of the board, Kip also has expertise from years of involvement in 4-H.

It starts with 4-H

Director Becky Amistadi is a 4-H alumni herself who has volunteered for the last 26 years as a 4-H advisor and Key Leader. As well as serving as a board member for the program, she and her husband also raised 4 children. All of which were also in 4-H. Talk about a love for the program!

“I became involved after watching how the 4-H program affected and helped shape my own family.. Both of our children were involved in the county 4-H program. They made lifelong friendships, they learned responsibility and developed skills they use every day. All while having fun.. I want to be part of the bigger picture that helps make that possible for other families.” – President Reb Billman.

Fair Family

For a couple of members of the board, the fairgrounds hold a very special place in their hearts Both Dave Miller (Executive Comm.) and Wendy Vogel (Director Emeritus) met their life partners at the Tuscarawas County Fair when they were only teenagers. They also both went on to raise children involved in 4-H. Continuing that love for the Tuscarawas County Fair through the generations.

Dedication

To have a fair as great as our county’s fair, there must be a lot of passion behind the scenes. With passion comes great dedication. “The Tuscarawas County Fair has been my life!” – Director Sue Kimble. The greatness of the Tusc. County fair doesn’t come easily. Director Emeritus Greg Kimble is recognized for “tirelessly working many years to improve the fair grounds for ALL in Tuscarawas County.”

The dedication it takes to pull off a great county fair is not something that these board members take lightly. Within the Tuscarawas County Agricultural Society exists passion, dedication and a love for what they are involved in.
