The Fair Board: Dedicated To the Future
The members of The Tuscarawas County fair board are dedicated not only to the maintenance of, but the progression of our County Fair. Recognizing the fair’s impact on the future of our community through the work the 4-H program does with our youth.
Dedication to preserving and enhancing tradition
Director Tyronne Brannon wishes to see the fair “transform into a 21st century space to show and learn for both attendees and exhibitors while still holding onto the rural charm of our county.” Equally as important as keeping up with the ever-evolving world is preserving tradition. The board seems interested in finding a balance where history and tradition are enhanced.
John Hochstetler recognizes his role as a director to enhance the fair experience for fairgoers, but shows a love for the county’s history.
“With a passion for vendors and concessions, I look forward to contributing to the growth of our fair’s appeal to its attendees and exhibitors.” Says Hochstetler. Further, “I also am thankful, daily; for the beauty of our historical grounds and the work that this board has put into preserving it.”
Educating young minds; leading the future
Many members of the board recognize how large of a role that the county fair plays for local youth. Director Dan Widder recognizes that the fair may be some kids’ only experience with farm animals, stating that it’s important to be around to help educate and answer any questions! “We try to educate the youngsters by showing what various animals look like, eat, how to care for them, and what they provide for consumers.” Widder says.
Furthermore, the 4-H program has poured into our youth for decades and the fair board recognizes its’ importance. “I believe that 4-H and the fair experience helps kids become better leaders in the community.” says director Tyrone Brannon
Vice president Josh Renicker recognizes the value that the program holds and takes his role in its progression seriously. “I am fully invested in assisting the fair and the 4-H program to be the best that it can be.”
Dedicated to The Fair
Being a board member with the Tuscarawas County Agricultural Society is an admirable position to hold. Director Sue Kimble has been dedicated to the Tuscarawas County Fair for years, volunteering in different capacities. Now that she holds a board position, she looks forward to the opportunity to mentor younger board members and help them uplift our county fair for years to come.
Organizing and executing the amazing Tuscarawas County Fair is no small task, but these board members go beyond organizing the fair. They recognize the impact that the organization has on local youth. They are dedicated to making the fair the best that it can be for our community. “Being a director means juggling multiple responsibilities and ensuring a smooth running fair week for the residents of Tuscarawas County.. I encourage everyone to come out and support the local kids and the Tuscarawas County Fair!” -Director Kip Hursey
