Updated Mask Mandate on School Busses

The last day of February students were able to get on the school bus mask free according to the CDC’s February 25th release.

The CDC released on Friday, February 25th an update about masks being required on transportation here.

“Effective February 25, 2022, CDC does not require wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs.”

This mask mandate on public transportation has been in place since January 29th, 2021.  One can now see bus drivers not having to wear masks nor students.  Drivers, bus aides, and students can still wear a mask if they choose but there are no mask mandates.


Coronavirus Ohio reports the following stats for the last 2 weeks of February 10-February 23

Stark County:

  • 81.8 Cases per 100,000 with case count being 303

Tuscarawas County:

  • 139.2 Cases per 100,000 with case count being 128

Ashland County:

  • 106.6 Cases per 100,000 with case count being 57

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is extending the face mask requirement for individuals across all transportation networks throughout the United States, including at airports, onboard commercial aircraft, on over-the-road buses, and on commuter bus and rail systems through March 18, 2022.
