3 Ways to Make a Difference on America Recycles Day

On Friday November 15th, people all across America are encouraged to participate in America Recycles Day. This day is about even more than taking a day to clean up our communities. It’s about making efforts and sharing knowledge that will make a lasting impact. Here are 3 ways that you can get involved in this Nationally recognized day of recycling.

This information is brought to you in partnership with the Tuscarawas County Health Department.

#1: Reflect

Take a look at your own recycling habits. See if you recognize areas where you and your family could make a few changes, and pat yourself on the back for the things you already do.

Think you’re a recycling master? Test your recycling smarts with this quiz from Keep America Beautiful. You may even get your kids involved by talking about your recycling habits at home. If you have older kids or teens, you could even take the quiz with them!

#2: Spread The Word

Tell all of your friends about America Recycles day and encourage them to participate. Social media is a great tool for spreading awareness about important topics. Consider making a Facebook or Instagram post to get the word out.

#3: Take Action

There are a million ways that you could jump into action this year during America Recycles Day. Here are a few..

  • Participate in a community clean up.. Join a local community cleanup event to collect and properly dispose of litter and recyclables. If you can’t find one- start one! Grab a group of friends and work together to make a difference.
  • Consider starting a recycling program. If your work, school,  or community doesn’t have a recycling program in place- work with your local waste management services to get set up with recycling bins.
  • Join the Greatest American Cleanup. In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, Keep America Beautiful has made it their mission to collect 25 billion pieces of litter in communities all across the country. All while uniting Americans and inspiring communities to take care of the Earth.

As America Recycles Day approaches, let’s try to remember that small actions can lead to a big impact. By embracing recycling habits in our daily lives and teaching our kids about sustainability, we can pave the way for a greener future. Together, we can make a difference- join the movement and inspire others to do the same.
