Many feelings surround the start of a new school year. Anxiety, excitement, sadness, anticipation… chances are you AND your kids are feeling these things! Check out the following tips for a successful school year!
- Keep the lines of communication open! Check-in with your child’s teachers, as well as with your child on their progress and feelings this school year.
- Get plenty of sleep. Make sure everyone in your house is getting plenty of sleep. It’s time to enforce a bedtime and practice early morning wake-ups!
- Stick to a schedule- morning and night. Morning schedules help get everyone out of the house on time. Evening schedules ensure plenty of time for homework, dinner, after-school activities, and family time.
- Encourage your student to get involved. Whether it’s an after-school program or an extracurricular sport, help your child identify their interests and pursue their passions!
Whether your life gets hectic or calm at the start of the school year, these tips are sure to put you, your family, and your kids’ teachers on the right track for a successful school year!
TuscBDD Starlight School offers preschool for 3- to 5-year-olds. The program is an all-day program, Monday-Thursday during the standard school year. Classes are made up of roughly 8 children with developmental disabilities and 8 typically developing children.
