It’s the most wonderful time of the year… and our number one priority is, of course, the health and safety of our families. So, let’s talk about giving safely this Christmas season – from choosing the right toys to ensuring the food on our tables is not only delicious but also free from any unwelcome guests like foodborne illnesses.

Toy Shopping Safety

We all know the excitement in our little one’s eyes when they unwrap a new toy on Christmas morning. However, let’s make sure that joy doesn’t turn into a visit to the emergency room. When it comes to toys, safety is the name of the game.

For the tiny tots, opt for toys with no small parts that could be a choking hazard. Think soft, plush toys or those with large, rounded edges. For adventurous toddlers, choose toys that spark creativity and imagination while being age-appropriate. Check for age recommendations on the packaging – they’re there for a reason!

For the older kids, look for toys that encourage physical activity and stimulate the mind. Board games, sports equipment, and craft kits are fantastic options that keep them engaged without the need for a screen.

Or, get them a tablet. (We won’t judge you.)

Cooking Up Safe and Delicious Delights

Now, let’s talk turkey – and ham, and all the scrumptious sides that make Christmas dinner special. As moms, we know that a delicious meal is a labor of love, but it’s crucial to ensure it’s safe too.

Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling food, and make sure all meat is cooked to the recommended internal temperature. Use separate cutting boards for raw meat and veggies to avoid cross-contamination, and refrigerate leftovers promptly. And here’s a pro tip: invest in a good food thermometer – it’s a kitchen game-changer.

If you’re bringing a dish to share at a festive gathering, transport perishable items in a cooler with ice packs to keep them at a safe temperature.

These safety tips will have you covered all season long!
