Camp Designed for Youth Who Have Experienced Loss

An innovative approach designed to ensure young people who have experienced loss know they are not alone.

Officials explain the “You’re Not Alone” Youth Camp is four children ages 7 to 17 who have experienced loss in recent years. Activities will include team-building projects, canoeing, rock climbing, swimming, water games, hiking, music, arts and crafts, group games and reflective moments outside. Event details indicate the children will also be divided into age-appropriate activity groups.

The camp is operated under the direction of Bereavement Care Manager Anissa Fuller and assisted by Community Hospice staff and volunteers.

The camp will be held June 9th through June 12th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Camp Wanake in Sugar Creek Township in Stark County, Ohio. On July 12th there will be a special feature of the camp from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. where family evening activities will include a meal, wagon ride, face painting, art displays, music and a memorial celebration. It will also include a horse experience from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on June 8th.

The camp and activities are offered free through the support of Community Hospice donors and a grant from the Summertime Kids Program of the Stark Community Foundation.
