Charitable organizations to receive local grants totaling more than $320,000

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Tuscarawas County organizations are the beneficiaries of the grants coming from the Selection Committee of the Harold C. and Marjorie Q. Rosenberry Tuscarawas County Foundation.

The trust was established by the late Harold C. Rosenberry of Dover for providing financial assistance to qualified charities in Tuscarawas County. Those receiving grant dollars will be able to use the money to buy equipment and for capital improvements.

Huntington National Bank serves as the Foundation’s trustees and distributes the grants semi-annually to organizations the Selection committee indicates. The Committee is made up of leading citizens throughout the community.

The following are the recipients of grants for 2019:

  • Warren Township Community, $11,849 for renovations to the community center
  • Tuscarawas County Library, $25,000 to support its expanded security system
  • Dover Public Library, $3,615 for a mobile laptop lab
  • ACCESS TUSC, $1,871, to purchase laptop computers and printers
  • Ohio Outdoor Drama Association $6,535, to for repairs and resurfacing the access road for handicapped and backstage accessibility
  • The Salvation Army-New Philadelphia  $11,451, to purchase instruments for the Music & Arts Program
  • Garaway Schools 7-12, $20,000  to support the installation of a security system
  • Village of Tuscarawas, $13,000 for renovations to the community center
  • Tuscarawas County Council for Church & Community (T4C), $8,397 to purchase a Xerox Alta link C8045 copier
  • Buckeye Career Center, $9,309 for the Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum
  • Claymont City Schools, $9,309 for the Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum
  • Indian Valley Local School District, $9,309 for the Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum
  • New Philadelphia City Schools, $9,309 for the Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum
  • Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools, $9,309 for the Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum
  • Horizons of Tuscarawas & Carroll, $9,643 Local 20% funding match for the purchase of a rural Public Transportation Vehicle (LTV) For use only in Tuscarawas County
  • Tuscarawas County Child Advocacy, $5,500 to help with a newer building upgrade at Center
  • Friends of Tuscarawas County Parks, $ 25,000, S.R. 416 Bike Lane Project – 3.25 miles of 5-foot wide bike lanes from New Philadelphia to Village of Tuscarawas
  • Lawrence Township Board of Trustees, $4,625 to assist with the purchase of a Steiner Kubota tractor, flip-up deck & slip scoop
  • Village of Baltic, $4,400 to replace & upgrade lighting at Baltic Waste Water Treatment Plant
  • American Red Cross of Stark & Tuscarawas County, $4,833 to help with the purchase of a Chevy Malibu for use in Tuscarawas County
  • Delaware Valley Joint Fire District, $25,000 to help with the purchase of a new Sutphen/Freightliner Fire Truck
  • Newcomerstown Exempted Village Schools, $7,243, to purchase equipment for new Fieldhouse Fitness Center
  • Hospice of Tuscarawas County, $15,048, for the purchase of patient room chairs
  • Journey’s End Ministries, $21,590, to purchase a truck to transport purchase orders from Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank to Newcomerstown
  • Tuscarawas Philharmonic, $3,120, Replacement of Timpani Heads and Audio Visual recording equipment
  • Village of Dennison, $19,149 to help with the purchase of a new brush truck for Fire Department
  • Tuscarawas County YMCA, $15,000 to replacement of heating and cooling unit In the Aerobic & Judo Room
  • Dover City Schools, $15,610 to offer half the cost of purchase of a full-size van for the District’s Small group

The foundation has distributed $7,822,959.54 since the Foundation began in 1994. Distributions are on a semi-annual basis. Only organizations that qualify under section 501(c)(3) of the federal tax code will be eligible for funds. The deadline for applicants to apply for the next distribution is December 31st.
