(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – The Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development program is looking for volunteers to help with the Foster Grandparent Program in Tuscarawas County.
According to information released by the agency, they are looking for those 55-years or older who meet income guidelines to join to help children in Tuscarawas County classrooms. Officials note they would qualify to earn a stipend. “Volunteers help the teaching staff in educational facilities including the Harcatus Head Start program, any non-profit daycare facilities, juvenile justice centers, and public schools by working one-on-one with children having difficulties with daily tasks,” officials note in the statement.
Volunteering is arranged and supervised by teaching staff at participating locations. Officials note that volunteers are not required to have a background in education to be involved. They will also receive round-trip mileage reimbursement to and from the assigned site along with reimbursement of time and mileage to monthly meetings.
A minimum of 20 hours per week is required, but volunteers may serve up to 30 hours per week.
