As you drive through the city of New Philadelphia in Tuscarawas County, Ohio you’ll notice the courthouse steps covered with spinning pinwheels.
According to the Tuscarawas County Child Advocacy Center, the pinwheels were individually placed to represent the number of child abuse cases seen in the county in 2016.
Reports confirm that last year the Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services agency received 1,397 reports of child abuse and neglect.
Also, statistics show 70 children in the county were placed into foster care and 44 were placed with relatives.
Since opening in 2011, the Child Advocacy Center has serviced over 400 children.
