The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District offers several options for hiking and biking trails across eight different lake areas. You can find the hiking/biking trails here for Atwood, Charles Mill, Clendening, Leesville, Piedmont, Pleasant Hill, Seneca, and Tappan Lakes.

Lastly, the Buckeye Trail connects Leesville, Tappan, Clendening, Piedmont, and Seneca Lakes. “The Buckeye Trail is a scenic hiking trail system that touches every corner of the state and is more than 1,440 miles long. In addition, Tappan Lake is the regional headquarters for the Buckeye Trail Association.”

The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is responsible stewards dedicated to providing the benefits of flood reduction, conservation, and recreation in the Muskingum River Watershed. It is the largest conservancy district in the state and led the effort to construct 14 dams and reservoirs. The MWCD has jurisdiction for its operations in all or portions of an 18-county area. The 18 counties wholly or partially contained in the MWCD jurisdiction are Ashland, Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Holmes, Harrison, Knox, Licking, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, Wayne, and Washington.
