(Dover, Ohio) – The Dover Public Library will begin to offer no-contact curbside service beginning Tuesday, May 12.
The library building will remain closed to the public until further notice. Patrons will be able to reserve library materials online at www.doverlibrary.org or by calling 330-343-6123. Library staff will pull or reserive the requested materials and will contact the patron to arrange a time for pick-up in the library’s rear parking lot.
“We know the community misses their public library,” says Jim Gill, library director. “We hope curbside service helps alleviate some of that need. Although opening to the public will be a gradual process, we feel curbside service is a step in the right direction. It is crucial that we balance the safety of our staff and the safety of the public with the need for service. It is our hope that as restrictions are eased and as guidelines are provided, we will be able to return to serving the community in a way that people know and love.” However, Gill cautions that the library will look and feel different. “We are asking the community for patience as we work our way through the pandemic.”
Patrons will not receive overdue fines during this time of temporary closure. Library materials can be returned in either the front or rear book drops. Daily newspapers are placed in The Little Free Library located on the 6th Street side of the building. The library’s digital collection, or eLibrary, can be accessed at www.doverlibrary.org. Patrons can check out downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music and more at no cost. For more information, please call the Dover Public Library at 330-343-6123.
