MAY STORYWALK® Massillon Public Library -Stark County

The Massillon Public Library Children’s Department invites families to come take a walk on their May StoryWalk®. Stop by the Massillon Public Library anytime from May 16 through 26 to read “Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa” by Jeanette Winters. This is the true story of Wangari Maathai who started the Green Belt Movement in Kenya after replanting trees in her homeland to fight deforestation. She enlisted local women to help her plant more indigenous trees and by 2004 they had planted 36 million trees in over 30 African countries!
Begin your walk in the Camille Leslie Memorial Garden on Lincoln Way East and read your way to our Second Street Entrance. Don’t forget to pick up a take-home craft at the end! For more information about the program, please contact the Children’s Department at 330-832-9831, x317 or No registration required! Patrons are also welcome to email photos of their children on the StoryWalk® to for possible posting on our Facebook page.
The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
