Ohio hunting course

Get Ready for Hunting Season with MWCD!

As the weather turns, many prospective hunters look forward to their favorite fall-winter sport. Are you ready for hunting season?

Enjoying the Outdoors is brought to you in partnership with Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District

We are fortunate to share this part of the country with deer, turkeys, squirrels, and more. If you’re an area hunter, you might be especially lucky. Before heading out to the woods this year, make sure you’re licensed and informed with one of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District parks’ Hunter Education Courses.

With the exception of those who hunt with an apprentice license, hunter education is a requirement for all first-time hunters in Ohio. Atwood Lake Park and Pleasant Hill Lake Park are both offering free, two-day instructor lead courses this November.

“Certified volunteers and MWCD staff will be there to teach the courses. They are specially trained by the ODNR and highly qualified to help you learn. Instructors will cover a range of topics, from conservation, safety, and ethics to the proper handling of shotguns, handguns, bowhunting gear, and more. You should not bring firearms or archery equipment to class – all necessary equipment will be provided,” according to the event website. You can register online at the links below!
