Each month, participants will receive a mystery box featuring both library materials to return at the end of the month and items to keep. Registration is required for each month and is limited to the first ten teens who submit the online form. To receive April’s box, teens can sign up now! Interested patrons can learn more or register at http://www.doverlibrary.org/departments/teen-programs/. Questions can be directed to Teen/Outreach Services Manager Liz Strauss at 330-343-6123.
Each month, the Teen Subscription Box will feature a different theme. The boxes include a book, a movie, and a magazine to return to the library, plus a craft or activity kit, a bookmark, a random prize, a library newsletter, a keychain charm, and a menu list of all items in the box for participants to keep. The participant’s first box will also include a free book and a key ring.
This new service began in February with the theme of Chinese New Year. March’s theme was Fairies and Magic. For April, the Teen Subscription boxes will include items featuring Daring Escapes.
The registration form includes a preferences section where teens and their parents can set parameters for the books and materials they will receive in the boxes.
“Not every book is for every reader, and not every movie is for every viewer,” explains Teen/Outreach Services Manager Liz Strauss. “We will do our best to fit teens with the right materials while making this experience an adventure and a challenge for teens to try new things.”
The Dover Public Library Teen Subscription Box is funded in part by a 21st Century After School Learning Grant with Dover High School. This grant supports learning opportunities outside of classroom walls, including the Dover Public Library’s Mobile STEAM Lab and the publication of Tornado Alley, the Literary Magazine of Dover High School and Dover Public Library.
The Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut Street in Dover, across the street from Dover High School and online at www.doverlibrary.org.
