Local school district to remain in blended learning model

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – In response to the COVID-19 health pandemic, Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia is announcing that the school will remain in a blended learning model through October 9, 2020.

School began in August in the blended learning model and was expected to remain that way through September 25th or until re-evaluated.

The blending learning model features instruction through in-person and remote learning each week. The schedule remains the same with seniors attending in-person September 28, 29, and 30 and October 5 and 6. Juniors will attend in-person October 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9. Students are expected to participate in remote academic learning on the days they are not in-person at school. “We feel this is the best model as we strive to maintain our social distance and provide a safe environment for our students and staff,” stated BCC Superintendent Bob Alsept. “We continue to monitor the health of our students and staff, as well as, the health of our partner schools,” he said.  Adult Education full-time, EMS/Fire, and apprenticeships will remain as scheduled. At this time, customer service operations are still closed to the public.

According to Alsept, nearly 75% of the career and technical centers in Ohio are using a similar blending learning model. Anyone with questions should contact Buckeye Career Center at 330.339.2288 or visit the district’s website at www.BuckeyeCareer Center.org.
