Oh Christmas Tree: New Philadelphia’s Smart Tree is a Must See!

The Christmas Story, The Grinch, Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life, and my personal favorite: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. At the center of these holiday favorites, and at the center of most downtowns during December, is the Christmas Tree. This year, the city of New Philadelphia added a new twist to this timeless classic that is sure to delight visitors and spark joy.

Generous Donation Leads to Holiday Delight

New to downtown New Philadelphia this year is a state-of-the-art 20ft intelligent lighting Christmas tree. A generous gift from AquaBlue and the Whittingham family, this tree is sure to be the centerpiece of holiday spirit for years to come. Visitor’s will want to see this new part of the city’s growing Christmas display while shopping and dining in vibrant downtown New Philadelphia.

Located near the House of Stones, the 20-foot traditional branch tree is equipped with Twinkly Pro™ lighting technology, boasting over 12,000 LED capsules. It represents the perfect fusion of branch tree charm and advanced smart technology, offering 16.8 million color possibilities, programmable effects, animations, and synchronization to music. This tree, matching those in major cities, stadiums, and theme parks worldwide, promises a mesmerizing 15-minute musical light show hourly starting at dusk.

New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day has enjoyed the community’s reaction to this festive downtown addition, “On any given evening, you can see people gathered at the tree to take photos and to enjoy the programmed light show. I am so grateful for the donation by Don and Susie Whittingham.”

Perfect Fusion of Tradition and Technology

He notes how the tree is a fusion of New Philadelphia’s traditional charm and rich history of supporting artistic expression and innovation, “New Philadelphia has always had a Norman Rockwell-like look, feel and tradition during the Christmas season. And the LED smart Christmas tree donated by the Whittingham’s has taken that tradition to a higher level. It has elevated the attractiveness of our downtown Christmas lighting. Downtown New Philadelphia has become more of a holiday destination because of it.”

Emerson, Amelia, and James Cornell were at the switch, pressing the ceremonial button to light up the new Christmas tree.

Tradition is the core of the holiday season for many families. Recipes, decorations, movies, and activities form the warm foundation of memory and excitement for holidays to come. The new tree lighting up downtown New Philly is the perfect mix of holiday nostalgia and 21st century technology that bridges past, present and future holiday experiences. Every generation in your family will be dazzled-eager to add a trip to the list of annual holiday traditions.
