COAD4Kids is announcing a collaboration with the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund and the Eastern Ohio Prevention Council to provide child abuse and neglect prevention services to more areas.
The partnership allows the agencies to reach the following counties: Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Monroe, Muskingum, Noble, and Tuscarawas.
Officials explain in a press release that COAD is providing a three-pronged approach to address the Council’s goals to provide high-quality care and education early in life, increase the number of children socially and emotionally prepared to enter school and reduce risk factors for child abuse and neglect.
COAD’s multi-facet approach includes the following:
Social Media Outreach and Education – COAD is producing and broadcasting Facebook Live segments which include information on research-based best practices, child development a social-emotional competence, parenting tips, introductions to community resources and an opportunity for interaction with experts in the field of early education, social services, prevention and other community leaders.
Child Development Association Credential Program (CDA) – COAD is supporting an enhancing high-quality early education through the provision of CDA courses throughout the 10-county region and by offering scholarships and additional support to program participants. The CDA program provides an excellent foundation for understanding and using developmental-appropriate practices with children in any setting. Scholarships are available for CDA cohorts beginning in January.
Strengthening Families Framework (SFF) – COAD is developing “Learning Networks” throughout the 10-county region to provide a system of supporting linking providers and families with resources to increase and enhance protective factors within our communities. SFF Learning Networks focus on incorporating protective factors into family engagement and early childhood settings to create support systems for families and communities.
The organizations are seeking additional partners to:
- Present prevention topics in Facebook Live broadcasts
- Teach child development and early learning best practices
- Facilitate learning networks in the region with child care providers.
