Preparing for Every Scenario – Updated Site-Based Mentoring Delivery Models

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio remains committed to ensuring site-based mentoring programs are offered to support children in the upcoming school year.

While in-person mentoring options are still available, the agency wanted to be proactive in offering and planning for virtual options should any changes occur so that there is the seamless delivery of mentoring. To prepare for the year ahead, the following four options were provided to parents to gauge interest, however, a plan has been put in place where all of the options are available should they need to be utilized.

Option 1 – In Person

Children will attend the site-based program in-person. The site-based program will take place at the school/site-building on the same day and time each week.

Option 2 – Synchronous Remote

Children will participate remotely from home with access to the live in-person session through an online platform, BlueJeans Meetings. Activities will be provided through Form Assembly. An email address will be required to receive program materials. This option will require a commitment from the child to participate in weekly sessions at the scheduled time.

Option 3 – Flexible Remote

Children will communicate with their mentors via Flip Grid. The child will be required to send one video per week through this virtual platform. Activities will be provided through Form Assembly. An email address will be required to receive program materials. This model does not require children to attend sessions at a scheduled time. Children can send videos as their schedules allow.

Option 4 – No Internet Remote

Families wanting their students to participate through this delivery model must contact the Big Brothers Big Sisters agency for details.

Staff is able to offer training for all participants regarding the use of virtual platforms used in mentoring delivery models.

These models have been incorporated into operations strategies based on the color-coded COVID-19 risk alert system.
