Will you be ready with answers when your child comes to you with tough questions about alcohol and drugs?
As your child becomes curious about alcohol and drugs, will you be ready? Will you have the right words or advice when they ask the questions that they are looking for you to answer honestly about alcohol and drugs?
Common questions about underage alcohol and drugs:
- Why is alcohol bad for me?
- Why is marijuana bad for me?
- I got invited to a party. Can I go?
- Did you drink when you were a kid?
- Did you try marijuana when you were a kid?
- Why do you drink?
- If marijuana is legal in my state, why can’t I use it?
- What if my friends ask me to drink?
- What if my friends ask me to try marijuana?
- You drink alcohol, so why can’t I?
When your child asks will you have an answer? It is so important to be prepared because these questions are hard to answer. When answering these tough questions your child will be looking for an open, honest conversation that establishes or reinforces the behavior you are expecting them to follow. Peer pressure is tough and having a plan to help avoid your children from making wrong decisions on these topics is important.
