(New Philadelphia, OH) – Buckeye Career Center students opened the doors to the Joe Carlisle Café & Marketplace for its second year of business.
The marketplace opened to the public Monday, September 10th and will be open Monday-Friday throughout the school year from 8:30am-1pm. The café opens Wednesday, October 10th and will be open weekly Wednesday – Friday from 10am-12:30pm. Hours and days of operation could vary depending on school events and weather.
Buckeye Career Center Superintendent Bob Alsept hopes the expanded days and hours of operation will encourage more area residents, local employees and Kent State Tuscarawas faculty and students to use the recently renovated space. The café, which is known for its pleasantly priced meals, has an expanded salad bar option this year. Culinary Arts/Chef Training instructor Mike Starlin is anxious for his students to learn about the daily restaurant business, which can include serving, cooking, cleaning, and overall customer service. The café will be staffed completely by BCC Culinary Arts students. Meanwhile, the marketplace features a floral counter, meat and deli counter, baked goods and coffee. These areas are staffed by Floral, Meat Cutting, and Hospitality students.
Buckeye Career Center asks that the public use the separate, side entrance when patronizing the Joe Carlisle Café & Marketplace. The facility was constructed ahead of the 2017-2018 school year to better serve students hoping to enter the customer service industry. The facility is named in honor of Mr. Joe Carlisle, Buckeye Career Center’s first superintendent. For more information, menus, and hours of operation visit www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org
