(Canton Township, Ohio) – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an ATV accident claims the life of a 17-year-old in Stark County.

According to deputies, they received a call just before 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6^th about an ATV crash in the 11000 block of El Dorado Circle NE, Canton Township. 17-year-old Kyle Donaldson of Hartville had reportedly been a passenger on a Can-Am ATV when he fell off and struck his head on the roadway.

Investigators note, Donaldson was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries. He was initially transported to Mercy Medical Center by the Hartville Fire Department and then sent via medical helicopter to Akron Children’s Medical Center where he died the next day due to his injuries.

30-year-old Michael Carle, of Hartville, was reportedly driving the ATV. He was cited for operating the ATV on the roadway.

Officials note they are continuing to investigate the crash and anyone with information is asked to call the Stark County Sheriff’s Office at 330-430-3800.
