The Wilderness Center Announces 2nd Annual Forest, Farm & Fork Fundraising Dinner

(Wilmont, Ohio) – The Wilderness Center is thrilled to be returning to Wholesome Valley Farm.

It’s all happening this September 28, from 5pm – 10pm, for its second annual farm-to-table dinner and fundraiser, Forest, Farm & Fork. 

“It will be pretty hard to beat last year’s SOLD OUT event but we think we can do it!” said Trevor Clatterbuck, owner of the farm.

Forest, Farm & Fork blends the elegance of a gourmet, fine-dining meal and service with the rustic setting of a working farm, garnished with the real-life personalities of outstanding chefs, farmers, and naturalists – all to benefit The Wilderness Center’s educational programs and conservation work.

This year Chef Derek Suhoski will be at the helm in the kitchen and Chef Ashley Suhoski will be in charge of the specially created desserts. This husband and wife team is experienced in preparing the kind of curated menu that celebrates the region’s summer bounty. Guests will begin their evening mingling with friends while enjoying local beer and wine and sampling a charcuterie spread of house-cured meats, Ohio cheeses, pickled vegetables, and preserves, while live music is provided by Gaetano’s Jazz Trio. Dinner will be a seasonal feast, fresh from the farm, served in the farm’s 19th-century barn just steps away from where much of the meal’s fare originated! A fire-roasted tomato soup and riesling poached pear salad with chevre and balsamic drizzle will start the meal, followed by entrees including fried chicken over a bed of ham-hock braised greens, apple butter bbq smoked brisket with jalapeno cheddar corn pudding with tangy fall coleslaw. Guests will end their evening savoring a delicious sampling of desserts spotlighting seasonal favorites as they enjoy an exciting auction of unique products and experiences.

The Wilderness Center believes that the farm to table dinner format resonates well with the Center’s mission, reconnecting people with nature by way of their food, wine and other local farm products. In addition to being a truly special fundraising event, it is a way of creating community by bringing like-minded people together, allowing good ideas to flow and new friendships to be forged.

Accommodations for special dietary needs, food allergies or vegetarian options should be arranged when making reservations. Last-minute accommodations cannot be guaranteed. The attire for Forest, Farm & Fork is flexible – from casual to “farm fancy.” We encourage guests to wear comfortable clothing and footwear for the weather of the day.

This year’s evening will also feature live music, silent and live auctions, and the drawing of An Astronaut Adventure raffle! The lucky winner will enjoy a unique trip for four to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex approximately 45 minutes east of Orlando, Florida. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers a mix of thrilling simulators, breathtaking attractions, behind-the-scenes tours, interactive exhibits, larger-than-life-3D space films, rocket launch viewing opportunities and more! This prize includes a Kennedy Space Center Explore Bus Tour for 4; lunch with an astronaut; 2 day Visitor Complex admission for 4; and a 3 night stay in one standard guest room at Hyatt Place Orlando/Universal.
