(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services is announcing updates regarding Ohio child care assistance amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Back in March, Governor Mike DeWine ordered all daycare programs to close followed by a temporary pandemic license provided to home-based and business care centers. These licenses approved children to attend the facilities whose parents were considered essential workers. Temporary centers were closed on May 30th as the state began to transition into opening regular centers.

As of May 31st, all facilities that were currently operating on a regular license were permitted to return to business under normal regulations. During this time, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services established financial support resources to aid home care providers and center providers. Funds were used for things including cleaning supplies, classroom equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Extensions for this support were provided and providers were advised that no negative actions would be taken on any case until after July 31st. June redeterminations are now set to expire in December and July redeterminations will now expire in January 2020.

Officials have indicated that caretakers and clients should soon receive notices further detailing the extensions.
