Earlier this week it was officially announced that the coronavirus pandemic has claimed another sports season.
The Stay Safe Ohio order announced by Governor Mike DeWine last week was apparently the last straw when determining whether or not this baseball program would go on. The Ohio American Legion baseball season was officially canceled due to the pandemic in a vote Monday night.
Roughly a month ago the American Legion Baseball canceled eight regional tournaments across the nation and ensuing World Series set for North Carolina. Each state, however, was given permissions as to how it would handle its respective state tournament.
Soon after DeWine indicated schools would remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association called off the high school baseball season while also closing high school facilities until further notice. And as a result, the Ohio American Legion baseball league reportedly made the call to cancel the season noting many teams use high school complexes for games.
