Celebrating Direct Support Professionals

This month, from September 12th to the 18th, we recognize and celebrate Direct Support Professionals.

Including You is brought to you by the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) is someone who empowers and assists an individual with developmental disabilities. A DSP can assist with daily living skills, provide transportation for individuals to appointments or work, and join individuals on fun outings like a trip to the park, shopping mall, or movie theater.

A DSP offers support at home, school, and church. They can help an individual recognize their interests and talents, as well as strengths and goals. DSPs help individuals grow personally and professionally.

More than anything, a Direct Support Professional provides a safe and trustworthy resource for communication. The support, love, friendship, and trust a DSP provides for an individual is immeasurable and invaluable.

Join us this month in recognizing, celebrating, and thanking Direct Support Professionals for the services they provide and the relationships they foster.

The Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities (TuscBDD) has resources for children and adults with developmental disabilities. TuscBDD provides Early Intervention for children birth to three years old, Service and Support Administration for people of all ages, family support services, family mentorship, and more! To learn more about these services and others, visit TuscBDD online at www.tuscbdd.org.
