Check on the Men in Your Life

Do you have a man in your life that you love? Maybe it’s a brother, husband, father, or friend. When is the last time you checked in on them?

This informational campaign comes to you in partnership with the Stark County Community Action Agency.

I don’t know about you, but I am often stressed. out. And sometimes I forget to check on those around me because I’m so wrapped up in my own world. More specifically? The men in my life who love, support, and care about me.

According to the CDC, in the U.S. alone nearly 15% of men are considered in poor or fair condition and over 40% of men 20 years or older suffer from obesity. Over 50% of men in that same age group suffer from high blood pressure/hypertension. These startling numbers make it even more important to talk with the men you love about their health. Don’t put off the conversation- your family thrives when all the members are healthy and well.

A Focus on Mens Health

It can be difficult to ask someone to “get healthy”, but by suggesting useful tips and encouraging men to make small changes, you can make a difference.

  1. A better diet is always achievable. Eating fresh foods, cutting back on alcohol, and lessening sweets will make a difference in a man’s health.
  2. Support men as they make goals to move their body and improve their habits. Small, attainable goals are the best way to see a big change.
  3. Ask your male friends to educate themselves about common conditions such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, heart disease, and strokes.

June is Men’s Health Month and it’s the perfect opportunity to talk with the men you love about their health. Encourage them to be active, listen to their bodies, and keep annual appointments.
