(Dover, Ohio) – Calling all teens!
Saturday, July 24 at 2:00 PM, the Dover Public Library invites teen creators, families, and local supporters to the Tornado Alley Summer Reception. At the summer reception, all featured creators from the last two years will be given the opportunity to share their writing aloud and be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the project. Registration is not required for this event. Interested patrons can contact Teen/Outreach Services Manager Liz Strauss at 330-343-6123 with any questions.
This special event will celebrate two years of Tornado Alley, the teen literary magazine of Dover High School and Dover Public Library. This local publication features poetry, art, creative nonfiction, and fiction from local teens in grades 6-12, and is edited and designed by a team of teen editors.
“Now that we are able to have in-person programs, the library wants to celebrate the Tornado Alley participants who created not one but two editions of the magazine during a pandemic,” says Teen/Outreach Services Manager Liz Strauss, who serves as the magazine’s advisor.
The literary magazine is funded by a 21st Century Afterschool Learning Grant with Dover High School, which supports communities in creating learning opportunities outside the classroom, such as the Dover Public Library’s Mobile STEAM Lab.
