(Dover, Ohio) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 2021 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over national mobilization takes place from August 18- September 6, 2021.
To “kick-off” this campaign, Safe Communities, and the Tuscarawas County Health Department will be at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market on Wednesday, August 25, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Representatives of Safe Communities, along with local law enforcement, will be providing education on the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of making smart decisions when behind the wheel. Games and giveaways will also be offered, and everyone is encouraged to stop by!
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2019 on average one person was killed in a drunk driving crash every 52 minutes. In 2020, impaired driving was a factor in 54% of the fatal crashes in Tuscarawas County. This is why Safe Communities, the Tuscarawas County Health Department, and local law enforcement are working together to remind drivers that drunk driving is not only illegal but is also a matter of life and death.
