(Plain Township, Ohio) – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Canton metro Crash Team is currently investigating the death of an 18-year-old recent high school grad.
According to reports, Sydney Kleptach died on Monday as a result of injuries she sustained when a tree fell onto the car she was traveling in with her dad. The vehicle was traveling on Everhard Road NW on Sunday, September 9th when the incident occurred.
Her father, 48-year-old Brian Kleptach was driving the vehicle shortly after 4:15 p.m. when the car was struck. Sydney Kleptach was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital where she passed away on Monday, September 10th.
She was a 2018 graduate of GlenOak High School and student at the University of Mount Union. She was majoring in biology and French and was a member of the women’s soccer team. “As our students, faculty, administrators and staff grieve, we are focusing our attention on offering support to the Kelptach family and members of our campus community,” explained Mount Union officials in a statement issued Monday evening.
