Life with kids can be down right chaotic. Here are four simple tips to get your family organized.
Get your family involved
Repeat after me, “I do not have to do it all by myself.” Your kids, even toddlers, are capable of helping around your home. A great way to involve the whole family is by doing a 30’ hustle. Set a timer for 30’, turn on some upbeat music, and get to work putting things away, wiping things down, or just catching up from the week. It’s quick, it’s fun, and it’s a great way to get a lot accomplished in a short period of time.
Make sure hooks and bins are within reach
A simple way to keep your family organized is making sure your kids can reach the hooks on the wall or bins on a shelf. Many times kids have a tendency to throw things on the floor because they simply can’t reach the hooks, hangers, or bins. Invest in a few command hooks and hang them at eye level for your kids. Show them how to hang up their jackets. In no time, you won’t have as many coats scattered across the floor.
Designate a drop zone
In order to keep your family organized, it’s important to create a drop zone. Create an area to keep shoes, socks, book bags, and sports gear; ideally by the door. This will help to cut down on the amount of searching, for one lost shoe or knee pad, as you are headed out the door.
Create a system for incoming papers
Kids come home from school with a small forest of papers each week. The papers quickly multiply leaving you with a mess of worksheets and artwork. Create a spot for your kids to place their papers as soon as they get home from school. Again, make sure they can easily access this spot and be sure to take the time to review the papers on a regular basis.
You can achieve a more organized family life. Start small, ask for help, and soon you will start to see results.
