(Canton, Ohio) – Stark State College is offering to train qualifying students for workforce entry positions at no cost.
Training will focus on plumbing, pipefitting, construction, carpentry and other trades and will include a stipend for qualifying students who participate. Courses will be 10-18 weeks, beginning August 20th. They will include OSHA 10 safety training, job readiness training and industrial mathematics credit, all designed to help prepare students for a trade entrance exam.
Officials note that space is limited, and female and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be a resident of Stark County, have a high school diploma or GED and be able to pass a background check and a drug test. The city of Canton, Stark County Community Action Agency, and Stark State are presenting the program.
