Have you ever wondered who lives “In the Small, Small Pond?”  Take a Saturday morning stroll at Sippo Lake Park and enjoy this month’s Trail Tale!  Explore the natural world, make observations along the trail, as you read the rhyming book about the lives of insects and small animals that live in and around a pond.  Then, stop by the back patio of the Exploration Gateway to meet some of the animals featured in the book!

Manor House Tours

Where: The H.B. Stewart Home @ Quail Hollow Park

When: Sunday, August 7, 2022

Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm

The H.B. Stewart home at Quail Hollow Park will be open to visitors from 1-4 pm on Sundays until the end of October. Are you a fan of Ohio frontier history? Do you enjoy learning about the industrial era of the early 20th century? Maybe you are inspired by home design, decoration, and landscaping.  Or are agriculture and conservation your calling?  If any of these apply to you, then you won’t want to miss this tour! Begin by entering the visitor center door located behind the eastern side of the house from the main drive. There, you’ll begin your tour with a staff member or volunteer. Guided tours will occur at 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm, last approximately 45-60 min, and include rooms on three levels. This building has no elevator so climbing stairs is necessary. No registration required.

After your tour stop in the Quail’s Nest Gift Shop for gifts or snacks and enjoy strolling around the park’s 700 acres.

2022 Adventure Days Series

“I have nothing to do…” isn’t something you’ll hear uttered again this summer! The Adventure Days series features these fun activities for your kids to enjoy:

If you have watched Robin Hood or Hunger Games and been impressed with archery and bow and arrows, this experience is for you!  This introductory-level program for youth to emphasize safety, proper shooting form, and recreational target shooting.  All equipment provided.  Sessions are exactly the same each day, please only sign up your child for one day to make sure others have a chance to participate.

Experience a morning of adventure and learn about “cool old stuff.” We’ll take a tour of the historic manor house and learn about what life was like for the families that lived on and farmed the land. Explore the forest trails and try some shelter building for fun!

Drop off and pickup will be at the Nature Center

Tour the Wildlife Conservation Center bustling with live animals (large and small) and head out on the trail to see critters in their native habitats, and participate in a bioblitz to take a closer look into what is happening with the teeny creatures in tiny spaces all around us. Plan on being outdoors for the majority of the adventure.

A drop-off waiver must be signed by a parent.  Pick Up and Drop Off is at the front entrance to the Wildlife Conservation Center.

The cost is $10 for Stark County residents and $15 for out-of-county residents. Click the link to see which dates and times work best for you!
