(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – The Tuscarawas County Health Department is inviting the public to the free, annual Community Baby Shower this month.
Nicole Dorsey, Health Educator with the Health Department and Community Baby Shower Coordinator explained that the event is completely free to everyone and also includes a free lunch.
The Community Baby Shower has been an annual event organized by the Health Department for several years. Dorsey explained that the goal was to raise awareness about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and to provide information and resources to help families protect their babies and young children.
“This year we are expanding a little bit more. We’re including those with babies; people who aren’t currently pregnant but are thinking about having a baby in the future; and young children,” noted Dorsey. “We are focusing a lot on being healthy before you become pregnant, both the men and the women.”
There will be a number of games and activities for guests to enjoy such as CPR demonstrations, bingo, pregnant Yoga, dads diaper changing contest, and prize raffles. Through multiple partnerships, prizes will range from items for babies and young children, to family outings like waterpark passes and movie tickets. Additionally, Andreas Furniture in Sugarcreek donated a crib valued at $600 to giveaway. All Events Photography will also be at the event taking free family and maternity pictures for anyone that is interested.
Dorsey added that the event is “a way to pull all of the partners together that have some involvement with families; whether before pregnancy, during pregnancy, or after. All our partners that are concerned with the wellbeing of families in Tuscarawas County.”
Newsymom.com will also have a booth at the event where we’ll offer a diaper raffle giveaway.
It’s all happening on Saturday, July 14th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at New Point Community Church, 3950 OH-39, Dover 44622. Doors will open to the public at 11:30 a.m.
